A BUILDER who had been missing since Saturday morning was found murdered in the room on his fields at Barkheda Salam village in Khajuri on Sunday. The deceased, Akarshan Shrivastava, 35, a resident of Koh-e-Fiza, had been hit on the head with spade. The killers had locked the room from outside.
Additional SP (Old City) Deepak Verma said Shrivastava had left the house on Saturday morning along with two persons, Lakhan and Gyarasi alias Gyani, who worked on his fields on a contract-basis. The duo is absconding now.
Shrivastava was reportedly unhappy with the share he got for the last couple of years from his 16-acre agricultural land and had told them that he would hand over the land to someone else for ‘batai’. This had caused a dispute between them. On Saturday, the duo came to the Koh-e-Fiza residence of Shrivastava and later went with him on his motorcycle to Khajuri.
When he did not return after several hours, his father KK Shrivastava, a retired Executive Engineer, and brother, Ashish, went to the village and found the room on the fields locked. His cell phone was not responding. Later in the night, the deceased’s wife got a report of missing person registered with the police.
Today a police party reached the spot and peeped through the window and found the body lying inside the room. They broke in and found Shrivastava dead. The cell phone was crushed to pieces and lying near the body. The deceased’s motorcycle was later found abandoned near Sehore mandi.
The deceased was a builder, who had constructed several houses apart from owning agricultural fields and running an Internet café. The case of murder was registered and the police are on the lookout for the prime suspects, Lakhan and Gyarasi, who are absconding. The Khajuri police are investigating the matter.
