Mizoram police on Friday detected at least 12 missing arms from the armoury of the first battalion of the Mizoram Armed Police (MAP).

The state DIG (Range) Lalsangzuala Sailo told reporters that the missing arms were detected after an arm smuggler was arrested at Vaivakawn locality on Thursday.
A suspected arm smuggler, PS Thanga, was arrested with one sten gun and after his confessions police detected that at least 12 guns were missing from the armoury of the First Battalion of the MAP.
Sailo said proper care would be maintained in future to ensure that such incident do not occur.
Criminal cases under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Arms Act were registered at Bawngkawn police station here and a special investigation team constituted to investigate the matter, he added.
