The MLC on Monday registered a complaint with the DIG (zone) Daljit Singh Chaudhary demanding immediate removal of the SO, R P Tiwari.
Tomar said that the SO was aware of the tension between the two groups over removal of encroachments from the government land. He further said the attackers had an altercation with Chandrabhan over the same issue at noon on the fateful day and Dheerj Singh, the main accused had threatened Chandrabhan of dire consequences for supporting the anti-encroachment drive.
The accused lost some property they had grabbed illegally near the village pond during the tenure of Chandrabhan as block pramukh.
On Saturday noon, the accused manhandled the SP leader and also threatened to kill him.
However, the local people saved Chandrabhan from their clutches. According to Tomar, the SO also visited to the spot as local people urged him to save Chandrabhan from the toughs. But, the SO paid no heed to the case and did not initiate any action against the accused. This laxity proved costly when the accused managed to eliminate the SP leader, the MLC added.
