Chowk police had picked up the youths in the wee hours for interrogation regarding a case of robbery.

The blockade was removed only after senior cops assured the mob the release of the detained youths after proper investigation and interrogation.

Earlier, the residents of Pandariba vegetable market started gathering outside the Naka Police Station since morning.

The mob blocked the road demanding release of two youths, vegetable vendor
Bunty Sonkar and tempo driver Sunil Sonkar, whom plain-clothed policemen identifying themselves as members of STF had taken into custody.

Naka police inquired at all police stations if they had picked up the youths.
Chowk police confirmed having detained the duo for interrogation regarding a case of theft in Naka. Station house officer (SHO) Naka later took Bunty and Sunil into custody and assured the agitators that the suspects would be released after interrogation.
