Mob stages chakka jam

Irked over frequent power cuts and shortage of drinking water, a mob staged a chakka jam on Bhind-Itawa road and indulged in stone-throwing at the collector's house here today.

Irked over frequent power cuts and shortage of drinking water, a mob staged a chakka jam on Bhind-Itawa road and indulged in stone-throwing at the collector's house here today.

Following the incident, the collector Satish Mishra promulgated prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC in the town.

After staging chakka jam, the mob pelted stones and damaged about one dozen vehicles before reaching collector's house, where the miscreants smashed glasspanes, police said.

The mob also pelted stones near city kotwali, police said adding they made a lathi-charge to disperse the miscreants.

The agitation was led by former state BJYM vice-president, Narendra Singh Khushwaha, who was also injured in the incident. He was taken to Gwalior for treatment, police said.
