Moderate quake hits Nicobar Islands

A moderate earthquake having a magnitude of 5.3 on richter scale hits Nicaobar Islands.

An earthquake of moderate intensity shook the Nicaobar Islands on Thursday afternoon.

The magnitude of the quake, which occurred at 1359 hours, was 5.3 in the Richter scale, the Met Department said.

The epicentre of the quake was at 08.9 degree North latitude and 91.4 East longitude, it said.
