"Government is concerned over the delay (in monsoon)," Ahluwalia said in New Delhi on the sidelines of a CII-organised summit on infrastructure.

"Monsoon has now become much better in most parts of the country, but still not in the North-West of the country. It is a matter of continuing concern for us," he added.

However, the Plan panel deputy chief expressed hope that there would be a recovery in the 'base' of monsoon in July.

Asked whether the Agriculture Ministry has prepared a contingency plan to face the situation he said, "I am certain that the Agriculture Ministry is looking at the same."
