Mother kills two children in Erode

A woman killed her two children, aged three and one-and-a-half years respectively, by throwing them into the lower Bhavani canal and also jumped in but was rescued by passers-by, police said.

Police have registered a case of murder and attempt to commit suicide against the 26-year-old woman, staying with her husband at Arachalure, near Erode.

The children drowned but passers-by, who noticed the woman struggling in the water last evening,pulled her out.

The woman has been admitted to hospital. The bodies of the children have been recovered, police added.
