The elder sister was stripped naked by two policemen who stopped her while walking with a male friend. They then beat up the friend and took pictures of the girl in the nude. The policemen then allegedly demanded sex from the girl, threatening to circulate the pictures. They also demanded Rs 10,000 from the friend.

The girl then filed a complaint at the local police station — that turned fatal for both sisters. The two policemen were suspended and they allegedly threatened the girls and the father at their house. The girls reportedly consumed poison following this and were discovered unconscious by the father — ironically, he was meeting the SP at the time.

The sisters were rushed to hospital, but the younger one died within an hour of being admitted and the elder, early on Thursday.

As the news about the suicides spread, irate citizens blamed the police. The police though say a suicide note has been found, but it doesn’t blame anyone. Yet, the two suspended policemen have been booked for abetment to suicide.
