Annobai of Sadoomara village in Ashok Nagar district was returning home after fetching water when the five boys caught her, poured kerosene on her and set her ablaze.

She was immediately rushed to the district hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

"Harnam Singh, Lallan, Banti and two others dragged me, poured kerosene on me and burnt my clothes because I had complained about their eve-teasing to my parents a day ago," Annobai told police in her death statement.

All the five, who are absconding, belong to the same village and had been harassing Annobai for a long time. Her parents had taken up the issue with their families.
