The State Election Commission (SEC) had declared election programme of municipal bodies in various parts of MP.

Satyendra Pachori filed the petition challenging the Commission’s order on grounds that it was unsustainable in view of various orders issued by the high court that struck down inclusion of villages in the municipal limits in case of municipal corporations of Jabalpur, Chhindwara and Bhopal.

The petitioner’s counsel Rajendra Mishra said it is clear from the high court orders that the state government, in maximum cases, carried out the inclusion of villages without proper process.

Thus the ongoing elections for municipal bodies should be halted.

The court heard the case on Wednesday on request as the petition was scheduled for hearing on December 5 next.
