Mumbai: Cookers, frying pans seized from ex-cop's house

The Election Commission authorities in Mumbai seized cookers and frying pans from the house of former cop Sudhakar Ghagre on Saturday evening.

The Election Commission authorities in Mumbai seized cookers and frying pans from the house of former cop Sudhakar Ghagre on Saturday evening. The items were being distributed to people in social cultural event ahead of upcoming assembly polls in Maharashtra.

Acting on tip-off, a flying squad in Worli constituency raided retired assistant police commissioner (ACP) Ghagre's house on Golfadevi road at 6pm, where it found cookers and frying pans in four tempos.

According to sources, Ghagre is 'close to a big leader from Worli'. According to officials, these kitchen items were being distributed by Gajanan Friends Circle, an association of whose Ghagre is the president.

The seized items along with four tempos were taken to Dadar police station, where election authority and the cops have launched an inquiry in the matter.

The police have filed an FIR in this case for violation of the model code of conduct, informed the nodal officer for expenditure, Ratnadeep Gaikwad.

So far, cash worth Rs. 15 crore has been seized by election commission and police across Maharashtra.
