The provisional autopsy report confirmed that the 19-year-old died due to brain haemorrhage. It also said Aman, who hailed from Gurgaon, had four injury marks on his face.

In a complaint to the college authorities on Sunday, Aman said four drunk seniors had beaten up students. At least 13 other first-semester students complained they were ragged.

The police registered a murder case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against the four students — Ajay Verma, Abhinav Verma, Mukul Sharma and Naveen Verma — said to be involved in the ragging.

“Following the conclusion drawn from the autopsy report, a case of murder has been registered against the four students involved in the incident,” said Atul Fulzele, SSP, Kangra. The state government ordered a magisterial probe into Aman’s death. College principal Suresh Sankhayan was replaced by Anil Chauhan, head of the department of ophthalmology.
