NAAC team holds interactive session with students, parents
AS PART of its effort to get an insight of academic standard of Banaras Hindu University, the members of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) interacted with the students, parents, former students and research scholars at the Swatantrata Bhawan in BHU on Wednesday.
AS PART of its effort to get an insight of academic standard of Banaras Hindu University, the members of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) interacted with the students, parents, former students and research scholars at the Swatantrata Bhawan in BHU on Wednesday.
Out of the 12-member NAAC delegation, as many as six members including former Vice-Chancellor of Pune University, Prof Ashok S Kulhaskar, Prof AQ Contractor, Prof C Thangamuttu, Prof Ranveer Singh and Prof Shramishtha Panja participated in the interactive session. Dean of students Prof VK Kumra coordinated the interactive session.
First of all the NAAC delegation interacted with former students of BHU and then had a discussion with the parents of students. Later, the experts interacted with research scholars and international students.
Sources said the students and research scholars shared their grievances with the members of NAAC team such as lack of inter-disciplinary courses, state-of-the-art library facilities and less number of hostels etc.
Sources said the NAAC delegation also visited the University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau, University Mountaineering Centre, Hobby Centre, University Sports Board, office of National Service Scheme (NSS).
The NAAC team also took stock of basic amenities being provided at hostels of Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Brocha Hostel, International Hostel and Triveni Complex today.
The twelve-member NAAC team reached BHU on its four-day visit on Monday. The NAAC team has already met with BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof Panjab Singh and some executive council members. After an over-all inspection of academic activities, basic amenities and achievements, the NAAC team would submit its report to University Grants Commission (UGC).
The NAAC delegation is conducting the inspection in four different groups. Prof BM Hegde, Prof SC Shetty, Prof IV Subbarao, Prof BL Singhania, Prof B Ramamurti, Prof Vishwanath N Das and Prof Jagdish C Bhatia are other members of the delegation. Former Vice-Chancellor of Pune University, Prof Ashok S Kulhaskar is leading the delegation.
