The officers and employees took a strong exception to the incident and resolved to continue their work boycott till the corporator is arrested. An FIR was lodged by the NN at Civil Lines police station in this connection on Monday late evening.

According to reports the corporator Sushil Singh Yadav exchanged heated words with Health Officer Dr PK Singh on some issue probably related to transfer of a sanitary inspector. Yadav, according to sources, wanted to get transferred Arun Tiwari, a sanitary inspector at ANN, to his ward. Even he had taken the approval of the Mayor on the matter. However, when he approached Dr Singh the latter informed the approval of Municipal Commissioner was a must. This led to heated exchange of words. In a fit of rage the corporator Yadav slapped the Health Officer. As this news spread on Tuesday the NN officers and employees went on strike demanding immediate arrest of Yadav.

However considering the problems faced by the citizens the NN staff may resume work on Wednesday, said the NN sources.
