Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today called for more efforts to implement micro irrigation project in the state.

Reviewing the progress of the project here, Naidu emphasised on giving continuous education to the farmers about benefits of the project in terms of yield increase, water saving and energy conservation through micro irrigation during the forthcoming Janmabhoomi programme.

At a later stage the micro irrigation project can be effectively integrated with recommendations of Vision 2020 like post harvest technology, processing and agri export zones, he added.

The Commissioner and Director of Horticulture, J S V Prasad, who also attended the meeting, said till date a total of 1.49 lakh applications were received in the entire state to cover an area of 1.60 lakh hectares.
