Acting chief justice of Delhi high court BD Ahmed will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Jung at Raj Niwas. The ceremony is likely to be attended by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, her council of ministers, and several top political leaders and bureaucrats.
A 1973-batch IAS officer, Jung will be the 19th L-G of Delhi. He earlier served in the Madhya Pradesh government and at several important positions in Central government. He was senior adviser with Asian Development Bank in Manila. In his last assignment, Jung served as vice-chancellor of Jamia Milia Islamia.
While the outgoing L-G Tejendra Khanna lived in Vasant Vihar, the PWD is readying the official accommodation for the new L-G located at Raj Niwas in North Delhi. Jung currently lives in the premises of Jamia Milia and sources said he will soon move to his official residence as L-G.
