The University Grants Commission (UGC) in association with ADC will organise a two-day national seminar on " Baudhik Sampada Adhikar aur Bhartiya Manisha" in October, 2006.

Dr Deepa Agarwal of Sanskrit Department ADC said that the seminar is being sponsored by UGC and will be attended by renowned scholars and academicians including Prof Muchkund Dubey of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) New Delhi, former Vice-Chancellor of Sampurnanand University Prof Rajendra Mishra from Shimla, Prof Kamlesh Dhar Tripathi from Kalidas Academy, Ujjain, Prof PN Mehrotra from Allahabad University (AU), Prof Banish Dinkier from Pilkhua, Ghaziabad, Prof Dev Karan Sharma from Ujjain and Matelkar from Delhi.

"The claim of Western countries on some ancient Indian knowledge has raised the question about the identity of original ideas and rules need to be developed in this regard. The seminar will hold discussion targeted on the Act passed in December, 2005 and pool ideas regarding patent, copyright, geographical indicators and many related issues", said Dr Agarwal.

"The specialists will interpret the ancient Indian knowledge and work out solutions of the increasing patent and copy right problems faced by the scholars of the country.

Dr Agarwal said that it will be discussed during the seminar to ensure that the original creator of any idea gets the royalty or benefits if his idea was used by some other person. This will help the country to claim the original ideas of the scholars of the country. Several organisations have come forward against increasing dominance of Western countries in the claim over ideas which, in fact, were developed by others".
