Altaf Ahmad Wani, 25, was shot outside his home in Zonimur, Srinagar. “Altaf was walking on the road with his father when a group of children threw stones at the CRPF vehicle passing by,” said a local who declined to be named.

The CRPF did not comment on the incident.

Following Altaf’s killing, Srinagar magistrate Baseer Ahmad Khan said curfew would be imposed in the district from midnight. NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani termed Altaf’s killing a “cold blooded murder” and demanded a judicial inquiry.
