Nearly 500 NC workers, led by party provincial president Ali Mohammad Dar, took out a protest procession from party headquarters at Nawa-i-Subh to Pratap Park, where they torched the effigy of Mehbooba and demanded an apology from her.

The controversial 3 Idiots' poster, featuring Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, his father Farooq Abdullah and grandfather Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and the discussion posted on the social networking site Facebook created a controversy in the state last week.

NC has blamed Mufti for the posters but the latter denied her party's involvement in putting up the posters or uplinking the contents on Facebook.

"We (NC ) will not allow any one to use indecent utterances against our leadership. Unless PDP does not disassociate from the controversy and tender an apology in public, the protest processions will continue," Dar said.
