With the Lok Sabha polls drawing close, the NCP has turned its back on local ally Shiv Sena-BJP and has joined hands with national-level friend — the Congress.

The NCP has an arrangement with Shiv Sena-BJP combine at the Pune Municipal Corporation. On Tuesday, standing committee members of NCP and Congress approved the resolution stating all rights pertaining to the annual municipal budget should be with leader of the House instead of the standing committee chairman.

This means Sena’s man and standing committee chief Shyam Deshpande will not present the civic body’s budget. NCP corporator Anil Bhosale has been given the rights.

Deshpande said: “The NCP has betrayed the people of Pune who voted it to power.”
