To implement the scheme, additional manpower would be requisitioned from the other railway stations including Kanpur, Aligarh and Tundla under the Allahabad division of the North Central Railway (NCR).

The additional manpower will be deployed at the Junction to ensure the cleanliness of the platforms and tracks of the station.

According to railway sources, as many as 50 Safai Karamcharis have been proposed to be requisitioned from the other stations besides eight sanitary inspectors.

Initially, the additional manpower has been demanded from the division itself and if required more hands would be called from Agra and Jhansi divisions, the source said.

Meanwhile, it is also learnt that the sanitation work of platform number 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the Allahabad Junction and the circulating area on Civil Lines as well as City Side will be given on contract during the Ardh Kumbh fair.

The work will include cleaning and washing of tracks, cleaning of water booths, dustbins and offices, besides taking measures to control pest.

However, the railways have been asked to have adequate number of working hands, in case the contract gets in limbo, said the source.

The points in this regard were discussed at a meeting of health and food inspectors of the Allahabad division held here on Friday.

The meeting was convened by Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS), NCR, NC Mehrotra.

When contacted, Public Relation Officer, NCR, RK Srivastava said that besides discussing about the preparations for the Ardh Kumbh, the officials concerned were asked at the meeting to also take measures to prevent the spread of dengue in railway colonies and at the station.
