With this move, the trains will be able to run at a faster speed while passing through the loops and this high speed will reduce the travel time wastage, claimed Srivastava.

The main stations identified for the work include Allahabad, Kanpur, Etawah, Mirzapur, Aligarh, Tundla, Banda, Gwalior, Jhansi, Murena, Agra, Agra Fort and Mathura.

“We will also take into consideration stations like Fatehpur, Firozabad, Naini, Babeena, Chitrakoot, Lalitpur and Orai along with suburban stations which includes Dadri, Wair, Chola and Dankaur,” added Srivastava.

“Required preparations to achieve the target in this regard will be completed within a couple of weeks,” he said.

The importance being given to the initiative can be gauged from the fact that all zonal railways have been ordered to complete the steps required for the speed hike at the earliest and compile a list of stations within a month. Concerned officials have been told that in cases where the speed cannot be increased to 30 kmph, the report should be sent to the Railway Board for its consideration.
