Residents of Vaishali and Indirapuram said water pipelines to their areas are broken at many places and as a result drinking water gets mixed with sewer water.

"We have had this problem for the past 5-6 months. Water from the Ganga contains traces of sewage water," said Kedar Singh Mehta of confederation of trans-Hindon RWAs.

Federation of Noida RWA's Suresh Tiwari said, "Residents of sectors 20, 19, 22 and 12 have been complaining of contaminated water for the past two months."

In Faridabad, colonies such as Jawahar, Parvertiya, Dubwa and Chawla colony are the worst hit. Faridabad CMO Raminder Singh said two-thirds of water samples failed the purity test.
