The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Tuesday said it will ask the Rajasthan government to re-investigate a matter of alleged kidnapping and rape of a minor girl in Alwar district by the son of the local MLA.

After the 15-year-old rape victim met her at the Commission in New Delhi, NCW Chairperson Girija Vyas said the case needed to be re-examined as the girl told her that she went back on her statement against the accused upon being threatened with dire consequences.

"At first, the girl told the media that she was raped. Later, she told a local court that she had gone to Jaipur (where she was allegedly raped) on her own free will. But today she again said she was raped. We want to look at the issue sympathetically and we will be writing to the Rajasthan government to re-investigate the case," Vyas told reporters.

The families of the victim and the accused are neighbours in Mungaska village of Alwar district. She was allegedly kidnapped from Alwar by Arshad, son of BJP MLA Nasru Khan, on July 21 this year.

"I was picked up by him (Arshad) in a car with a lal batti (beacon) and was made unconscious. When I regained consciousness, we were in a hotel and they told me we were in Jaipur," the victim told.

"Arshad and his brother Pappu repeatedly raped me in the hotel room and there were four other persons with them who were in the adjacent room," said the girl, whose father runs a tonga  for a living. The girl claims she was raped by Arshad last year also.

Arshad is in police custody while Pappu is at large.
