National Commission for Women (NCW) will serve notice to controversial TV serial Sach Ka Saamna production house following complaints from women.
"There were several complaints against the serial from women, so we have decided to serve notice on the production house 'Big Synergy' to seek explanation," Chairperson of the Commission Girija Vyas told reporters in New Delhi on Saturday. Several women had complained about the way social values are being depicted in the serial, she said.
Vyas appealed to the people not to participate in the show which makes participants' private life public. "I am also of the opinion that there must be difference between one's personal and public life," she said. Such revelation of truth not only affects the life of the participants but also that of viewers.
The contents of the show which delves into the personal and sexual histories of contestants have been described as degrading to "Indian culture" by parliamentarians and social activists. Consequently, the Ministry for Information and Broadcasting had sent a notice to the channel, which gave its reply late last month.
