NCZCC plans big events
THE STAGE is all set for the connoisseurs of art to enjoy the year which will be filled with numerous events. With a carefully planned schedule for the New Year, the North Central Zone Culture Centre (NCZCC) will again be the hub of multiple cultural activities.
THE STAGE is all set for the connoisseurs of art to enjoy the year which will be filled with numerous events. With a carefully planned schedule for the New Year, the North Central Zone Culture Centre (NCZCC) will again be the hub of multiple cultural activities.
According to Bhagwan Shanker, NCZCC director, the entire activities have been categorised under two- those carried at the centre and those to be held at other centres with NCZCC participating in them.
"Allahabad Haat will most probably be started on a regular basis this year without any break. Cultural extravaganza 'Chalo man Ganga Yamuna teer' will take place during Magh Mela. Besides, there will be usual plays staged under the monthly theatre scheme. Established teams from outside will also be invited," he said.
"At least two painting exhibitions will be held at the Mahatma Gandhi Art Gallery.
We also keep sponsoring various events in other districts such as Triveni Mahotsav and Ganga Mahotsav. The centre also participates in the activities conducted by other cultural centres across the country," he added.
Under that scheme, the main participatory events would be 'Bhakti sandhya' at Chitrakoot ghat, folk dance and theatre festival in Lucknow, visual art camps to be held in various cities. There would be national ballet festival in Bhopal besides Khajuraho Mahotsav. The centre will also participate along with its artistes in Rajasthan Children Theatre Festival and Chandigarh Theatre festival in Haryana.
Vaishali Mahotsav and Sonpur Mela will be held in Bihar.
An exquisite event of war dances will be held at Delhi. Pratibha Utsav is yet another important event where a platform is provided to the budding artistes of the country.
"We have proved ourselves successful in two programmes which were initiated this year itself. They are documentation of the works of folk legends and the project Jan Kerosene Pariyojana (JKP). As far as the documentation is concerned, the artistes from all fields have been listed such as from singing and dancing. Their monographs and CDs are being prepared. This year, in addition to the above, we will document all the performances and then circulate it among the people through our website. A proper library too will be set up," said the director.
"JKP is proving very beneficial. Right now we have 91 groups and each one will cover 30 villages with two performances in each village. UP, Bihar and MP are being covered by the centre and this project has become the means of income generation for the artistes. It is solving the purpose of creating awareness regarding kerosene bungling in the rural areas and also dissemination of the art form besides strengthening it," he added.
The publication work, aimed to conserve and propagate art forms, will also be carried out by the centre.
