UTTARANCHAL CHIEF Minister Narain Dutt Tiwari today said Uttar Pradesh and the hill State should enter into joint ventures in the energy sector to solve the prevailing power situation.
Tiwari said joint ventures of UP and Uttaranchal in power sector would also strengthen the northern power grid and help in resolving the power crisis in the country. Besides solving the power problem, the Tehri project would also help irrigational facilities in UP, he said.
Dwelling at length on the efforts being made to develop UP, Tiwari said NOIDA and Greater NOIDA figured on the global map for their contribution in the field of industrialisation. There was, however, a need to make a mark in the information technology sector to bring NOIDA and Greater NOIDA at par with Bangalore and other IT savvy cities, he said. UP should also be developed at the same pace at which southern states were marching forward and Uttaranchal too would join in, he said.
Tiwari also used the occasion to congratulate Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his government for effectively countering terrorism and said this was also an issue on which the two States should join hands.
