Need for extra vigil against polio stressed

WORLD HEALTH Organisation (WHO) Surveillance Medical Officer Dr Arun Katkar organised a workshop on prevention of polio in the district at Hukumchand Poly Clinic recently.

Dr Katkar gave instance of a polio case found in the State and asked the medical officers to keep strict eye on the health of children. He asked them to report cases of ‘Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP)’ to government hospitals and get the child examined immediately.

Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr K K Vijayvargiya directed the health workers to concentrate on the slum areas during vaccination drives. He said that evaluation of the vaccinated children and cases of AFP must be done at monthly meetings.

District Vaccination Officer Dr Ojha, block-level medical officers and supervisors participated in the programme.
