It is worth mentioning that contractor Neeraj Agarwal was kidnapped from Gohania under Ghoorpur police station on November 11 and his body was recovered on November 19 from a jungle.

It is worth mentioning that contractor Neeraj Agarwal was kidnapped from Gohania under Ghoorpur police station on November 11 and his body was recovered on November 19 from a jungle. The CM had also assured the family members for safe return of Neeraj. However, his murder raised questions over the working of police. The entire business community lost faith in police and criticised the law and order situation of the city.

The STF and district police determined to nab the criminals responsible for Neeraj's kidnapping and murder went on for a massive manhunt and arrested three persons from Shivkuti area on Saturday.

Following a tip-off from the arrested persons, the STF and district police reportedly gunned down three persons during wee hours on Monday in Shivrajpur near Shankargarh. Cops said that three criminals challenged and fired on the police party.

All the three were killed in the operation and the cops recovered two 315 bore and one 12 bore country made pistols from the spot and mobile from them.

Besides this, the police also recovered Neeraj Agarwal's MP Public Service Commission admit card and a Hero Honda motorbike.

Police said that the criminals were identified as Munna Tiwari alias Raje, resident of Chitrakoot, Ramashanker, resident of Kaushambi and Anil Kumar Srivatava, resident of Lukerganj in city. IG, DIG, SSP, SP (Trans-Yamuna) reached the spot immediately after the encounter.

Talking to media persons, Inspector General of Police Allahabad Zone Subrat Tripathi said that although the police could not save Neeraj but would leave no stone unturned to trace the people responsible for the crime.

He said that around 15 people seemed to be involved in the crime out of which three have been gunned down and three have been arrested. "We have made progress in the case and will very soon nab the remaining perpetrators of murder," he said.
