The NEPF leaders in a statement here said the forum had explored all possibilities to secure seat adjustments with the NDA partners so that an united front could be formed.
Serious discussions were held between the NEPF leaders and NDA and other political party leaders and a large area of agreement has emerged and seat adjustments were possible leaving out yet another area where adjustments have not materialised and friendly contests seem to be inevitable, the statement said.
"The NEPF still hopes that more mature understanding will grow in the days ahead", the leaders said.
The statement was signed by NEPF leaders, former Lok Sabha speaker Purno A Sangma, Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga, Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Gegong Apang and Nagaland chief minister and chairman NEPF, Neiphiu Rio.
