Focus on passenger amenities
Stressing on providing international standard passenger amenities, General Manager of North Eastern Railway Sukhbir Singh told mediapersons that budget would not be a hurdle as far as upgrading amenities was concerned. He said the NER aimed to spend four times more than last year on passenger amenities and approximately Rs 6 crore had been spent on it last year. The change would become visible after two months or so, he added.
However, the amount could be extended if a need arose. He said that the NER was determined to upgrade and provide passenger amenities so that the passengers experienced homely atmosphere.
