They alleged that the government was not implementing the suggestions of the pay commission, and called upon the employees to gear up to launch a decisive battle against the anti-employee policies of the Union government.
Delivering his views on this occasion, acting president of All India Railwaymen’s Federation and general secretary of NERMU KL Gupta said the government had agreed to implement the suggestions of the pay commission within six months but now the period had been extended to 18 months. He said this was the first time when the pay commission had been authorised to announce interim relief for employees.
Continuing his offensive against the Union government Gupta said on one hand Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was saying that outsourcing would not be allowed, but an other hand the ministry was doing just the opposite.
He further said that dearth of running staff in the department and shortage of employees in-group C and D had increased workload on the employees.
Presiding over the dharna, union president Tripathi said labour unions were passing through a rough weather and appealed for solidarity.
Munni Lal, Naveen Mishra, Ratan Sinha, Ravindra Srivastav, Premchand and Ram Chandra Yadav and others also delivered their views on this occasion.
