Neelesh Misra’s report Getting back in line at the LoC (June 4) that many Kashmiri youth who sneaked across to join anti-national movements appear near the Line of Control to surrender is heartening. But it must be ascertained whether they want to live a peaceful life or not. Army officials want to encourage such surrenders because they feel it is a bloodless way to reduce the number of militants. The government should encourage such surrenders and grant these people amnesty.
