THE VARANASI police will install new picket duty points of constables on different sensitive spots in the city to check criminal activities.

Senior Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Pandey held a meeting with traders at his camp office in Varanasi on Thursday and sought information on crime-prone areas from the traders. The SSP asked the traders to further identify the crime-prone spots in different localities where police personnel would be deployed.
Traders under the banner of Varanasi Nagar Udyog Vyapar Mandal called on the SSP and gave him suggestion for the deployment of police personnel in sensitive localities. The traders suggested several places like Machodari, Khari Kuan, Chetganj, Luxa, Vishweshwar Ganj, near Bengali Tola school where criminal activities take place very often.
The traders suggested more security arrangement should be ensured at ancient Dashashwemedh ghat during the period of Ganga Aarti. The traders said if extortions were not stopped, the market of Purvanchal would be deserted.
