Hollywood actor Logan Lerman has emerged as the frontrunner to take over the role of Tobey Maguire in the new Spider Man movie.

The young star of upcoming film Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief has revealed that he is in talks to play the superhero's alter-ego, Peter Parker, in a movie prequel, reported contactmusic.com.

"There have been a few discussions, it’s definitely something I’m looking into. It’s one of my favourite characters ever and I’m a huge fan of the series. I’d love to have more conversations about it. I’m definitely very interested in it,” said Lerman.

The new film came about when Maguire and Spider-Man 4 director Sam Raimi quit the project last month.
