NGO blames poor roads for college student’s death

Youth wing of a social organisation, National Integrated Forum of Activists and Artists (NIFAA), took out a march on Monday to lodge a protest against the death of a female student due to alleged poorly maintained road.

Kritika, a BCom (final-year) student of Dyal Singh College, died at Sector 13 here on Saturday. She was driving a Scooty when she lost her balance due to the damaged road.Kritika, who hailed from Gohana in Sonepat, was residing with her relatives at Sector 7 to pursue higher studies here.

NIFAA president Pritpal Singh Pannu led the protest march that comprised students and locals from Dyal Singh College and submitted a memorandum to sub-divisional magistrate Sushil Malik.

The protesters demanded a fair inquiry into the matter and said the guilty should be booked under criminal charges. They also wanted potholes in various localities repaired. None from the victim’s family was present at the protest march.
