NGO holds demo against cruise

The organisation demanded that the cruise be shifted to Shahpura Lake or the Lower Lake immediately. Youth Force activists today alleged that the cruise is polluting the Upper Lake, which is the only water body inside the City providing drinking water.

YOUTH FORCE - a non-governmental organisation - today staged demonstration at Boat Club against running of the cruise boat in the Upper Lake. The organisation demanded that the cruise be shifted to Shahpura Lake or the Lower Lake immediately. Youth Force activists today alleged that the cruise is polluting the Upper Lake, which is the only water body inside the City providing drinking water.

They said that about 26 million gallons per day (mgd) water is being supplied from here. Demonstrators also alleged that the increasing activities in water due to cruise boat would affect aquatic life.

The demonstrators including Amit Bhatnagar, Sonu Baghela, Amit Soni and others said that they would also submit a memorandum in this regard to the chief minister and the mayor.

They said that the migratory birds would also stop visiting the Upper Lake due to such activities.
