Activists protesting the entry of French warship Clemenceau in the Alang ship-breaking yard held demonstrations in front of the French embassy.

The protesters, members of NGO Greenpeace and some trade union activists had also brought along a truck full of garbage for dumping before the Embassy.

However, the activists were restrained by the police from dumping garbage in the area.

Several NGOs and trade unions have been demanding that the entry of decommissioned French aircraft carrier Clemenceau into India be banned as it contains large amounts of toxic asbestos.
