The ministry on Monday informed the National Green Tribunal that a draft regulation in this regard was under consideration. The tribunal asked the environment ministry to submit its draft report on river regulation within two weeks in case relating to river Yamuna.

A bench head by NGT chief Justice Swatanter Kumar sought the draft report after the ministry’s counsel told the tribunal a mechanism to regulate development in and across rivers was under consideration.

The tribunal has also asked the Uttar Pradesh government to submit its affidavit with regard to construction around river Yamuna and Hindon before the next hearing.
