Nine passengers injured as train derails in TN

A bogie and some portion of the railway track was damaged due to the derailment.

Nine passengers were injured when four bogies of the Chennai-bound Cheran Express derailed near Vinnamangalam railway station in Vellore on Sunday.

The Coimbatore-Chennai train met with an accident at 4.00 am near Ambur in the Jolarpettah section, Railway sources said.

A bogie and some portion of the railway track was damaged due to the derailment, they said.

Train services were also affected they said, adding, efforts were on to clear the track.

Passengers were provided with transport facilities to enable them to reach their destination, the sources said.

The injured were admitted to hospitals, the sources said.
