No code violation by Rahul while filing nomination: EC

The Election Commission on Tuesday said that there was no violation of the model code of conduct by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the time of filing nomination for the Amethi parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

The Election Commission on Tuesday said that there was no violation of the model code of conduct by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the time of filing nomination for the Amethi parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

The UP Chief Electoral Officer got an inquiry conducted by the District Electoral Officer of Sultanpur into a complaint from a person that more than five people accompanied Rahul at the time of filing his nomination on April four.

It was found that there was no code violation and five people accompanied the Congress leader, Deputy Election Commissioner R Balakrishnan told reporters.

Acting on the complaint, the Commission had earlier sought a report from Sultanpur District Magistrate in this regard.
