Talking about the condition of the farmers in the State, Yadav said, “Many welfare schemes are being run by his SP Government for the farmers. Surely, till the farmers progress, the country cannot.”
In reference to former Prime Minister VP Singh supporting the farmers, Yadav quipped, Singh’s love for farmers is “common knowledge and I need not comment on that”.
Yadav added, people of the state are aware of the several welfare schemes for farmer and that is why “the farmers support the SP”. The Chief Minister also said the schemes were for the welfare of everyone across the state and restricted to particular people or place.
Yadav also said, the proposed ‘development package’ for Kanpur had been approved. As regards the forthcoming Assembly elections, Yadav said preparations were on and the polls would be held on schedule in a free and fair manner.
Demolition drive: Memo to Mulayam
MEMBERS OF the Samajwadi Party Chhatra Sabha (Kanpur unit) on Sunday criticised the Kanpur Development Authority for its current anti-encroachment drive. Sabha members said that thousands of people were passing their night in the open sky for none of their fault due to indiscriminate demolition drive launched by the KDA.
Chhatra Sabha leaders also submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav in this regard, who was in the city on Sunday.
Addressing the members, district media incharge of the SPCS Rajkumar Bajpai said that house was the basic need of everybody, but the KDA, which was also supposed to be a house provider, was demolishing the houses of poor people. He further alleged that KDA was demolishing the houses indiscriminately.
Bajpai said that a numbers of poor people have lost their houses during the anti-encroachment drive launched by the KDA. Interestingly, people had purchased the houses from the KDA itself, Bajpai added.
Later, Sabha members submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav urging him to order the KDA authorities to stop demolition drive immediately.
Sabha district secretary Rajesh Sharma, Shabuddin Quraishi and Anurag Verma were also present in the meeting.
