As many as 75 inmates of Diamond Jubilee, AN Jha, Sir Sunder Lal, GN Jha and KPUC hostels also collected at the SRN Hospital to stage dharna and raise their voice against 'Mandal-II'. After days of agitation a political party has hinted to the students that it may support their demand to withdraw the OBC quota.

The relay hunger strike which started three days ago was joined by another batch of 14 students and junior doctors on Wednesday.

The students also held a meeting and requested the senior doctors to not to conduct OPD services.

In the evening a motorcycle procession was taken out by the junior doctors to sensitize private doctors and nursing home owners about their Maharally on May 28.

The junior doctors stopped at all the major nursing homes on Park Road and other parts of the city and requested the doctors to join their Maharally.

"A delegation of junior doctors would also be sent to Delhi to participate in the 'Delhi Chalo' rally," said JDA president Dr Neeraj.

Dr Neeraj said a prominent BJP leader has given his consent to participate in the Maharally on May 28. They would also meet other BJP leaders to get their support on the quota issue. Their agitation has also further intensified after the PM's statement and they were all set to launch a decisive battle against the OBC quota issue, he added.

Dr Neeraj said the admission data of different colleges and Allahabad University reveals that the OBC students were taking double advantage due to faulty reservation policy. On one hand they captured all the 27 per cent seats reserved under the quota and on the other hand they grabbed general category seats through merit, he pointed out.
