Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is not going to Pakistan to watch the Indo-Pak cricket series. “There are no plans for the PM to visit Pakistan for any of the cricket matches,” said External Affairs Ministry spokesman Navtej Sarna.

Sources in the PMO also said there was no “cricket-specific” or fresh invitation from Islamabad, other than the one that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf extended to Singh in New York in September 2004.

The PM had accepted the invitation in principle but no date or time was put to it.The clarification from official quarters came against the backdrop of reports quoting Pakistan foreign office spokesperson Tasneed Aslam as saying that Singh has accepted the invitation to watch a match.
