THE impact of Lyngdoh Commission guidelines and election code of conduct was quite visible during the first day of filing of nomination papers for various post of students’ union election in the campus.
46 nomination papers were filed for different posts, while 214 aspirants purchased the nomination forms.
The nomination process started on a low-key note on Monday. There was no huge procession of the student leaders, shouting of slogans was absent and there was no enthusiasm among the students too. The girls students were also absent from the campus and only candidate along with 13 supporters was allowed to enter the campus for filing of nomination papers.
Election officer Prof Maheshwar Shukla claimed election code of conduct was strictly implemented on the first day. He claimed that the first day for nomination passed off peacefully. According to him, on the first day six nomination papers were filed for the post of president while 9 nomination papers were filed for the post of vice-president.
Similarly, five students filed their papers for the post of general secretary and six for the post of librarian, while 20 nomination papers were filed for the class and faculty representative posts.
For the post of president Shrikant Mishra, Swatantra Veer Mishra, Dharmendra Mishra, Anita Gautam, Surendra Bharti and Shrichand Yadav Lala filed their nomination papers on first day.
For the post of vice president Ashish Kumar Singh, Uma Shanker Yadav, Pawan Shukla, Akhilesh Dubey, Utkarsh Mani Tripathi, Prabhu Nath, Ashwani Kumar Singh, Ramesh Chandra Pathak and Brijesh Kumar have filed their nomination papers. While for the post of secretary Kaushal Kumar Tripathi, Sandeep Yadav, Chandra Pratap Singh and Vinay Tripathi have filed their nomination papers.
According to a report, two nomination papers were filed for science faculty representative, five for commerce, seven for arts and three for law faculty representatives.
Tuesday will be the last day for filing of nomination papers and heavy police force was deployed in and around the campus to avoid any untoward incident.
Chief proctor Prof Vinay Pandey and members of election conducting committee were keeping strict vigil over the nomination process.
