Notorious criminal gunned down
THE POLICE gunned down a notorious criminal, carrying a reward, in an encounter near Adarsh Nagar Inter College under Kotwali Police station on Saturday morning. The police recovered a country-made pistol, huge quantity of live cartridges and a motorcycle from the scene.

The slain criminal was identified as Nehru alias Neur Yadav, son of Bhagelu Yadav and resident of Katuapaura area. He was carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 and was wanted in several heinous crimes including murder of a trader Pradeep Keshari.
Police, acting on a tip off that some criminals were on their way to Chaukaghat to execute a crime, personnel led by station officers of Adampur, Luxa, Kotwali and Cantonment police stations laid a trap near Chaukaghat and started vehicular checking, Meanwhile ,the police team signalled a motorcycle to stop.
Sensing danger, the motorcycle-borne miscreants to flee. The police team chased them and near Adarsh Nagar Inter College, the miscreants opened fire on the cops.
The police retaliated killing Neur Yadav. The accomplice of slain criminal managed to flee.
Meanwhile, a married woman committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling at Saket Nagar Colony under Bhelupur police station on Friday evening. The deceased was identified as Kiran. Police took her husband Surya Kumar into custody.
