Now log on for internship
Check out this web portal that hooks-up students with engineering companies and NGOs.
College students can now rejoice. Scouting for internships has just become easier. Forgoing multiple rounds of offices or googling for hours in search of a perfect job profile, students can now visit a single website and choose a position that suits their requirements. Just log on to www.internshala.com.
According to IIT (Madras) graduate and co-founder of Internshala, Sarvesh Agrawal, the portal wasn’t started as a business venture. He says, “Last year, a friend studying in London contacted me. He was hunting for an internship in India. After days of futile search, we realised that there was no online platform that focussed only on internships. So I decided to start a blog that helps students in their internship quest. And, now taking it to the next level, we converted it into a portal.”
So how is Internshala any different from similar websites? Says Sarvesh, “Unlike other sites that post information about jobs, scholarships and competitions, Internshala focuses exclusively on providing students internships with engineering companies and NGOs. The people who apply are 18 and 19 year-old students, who are looking for some industrial experience.”
More than 500 students have been successfully placed through this portal, which was launched in January. Companies like Siemens, Shell, ITC and GT Nexus are among those who have used Internshala as a platform.
So what do students have to say about it? Naveen Pandey, who applied to the site while hunting for engineering internships, says, “I applied to a number of sites but after I applied at Internshala, I got placed at Pulse Lab in 15 days. The internship lasted for a period of three months and helped me a lot.” Naveen is currently working as an associate consultant with Oracle Financial Services Software in Mumbai.
