Nurses, SP activists stage joint protest

Demand immediate imprisonment of SO for levelling false charges

THE SAMAJWADI Party activists and members of the District Nurses’ Association staged a dharna at the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital (SRNH) on Monday to protest against the delay in lodging FIR against the George Town police station officer (SO) for levelling false charges.

The activists led by Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha Mahanagar president Mohd Asad also gheraoed SRNH superintendent-in-charge (SIC) Dr MP Singh and handed over a memorandum to him.

Later, addressing the meeting Mohd Asad said the memorandum contains the demand to lodge FIR against George Town SO for arresting the son of senior staff nurse on false charges. The SO should be sent to jail immediately, he said.

District Nurses’ Association president Safia Khatun said, a demand was also made to the SIC to start an inquiry against all those staff who were appointed on the basis of fake certificates, claiming that they were SC/ST candidates.

There were many irregularities in their appointments, she said. About 150 nurses and SP members attended the dharna.

Hospital staff penalised
A SENIOR medical officer and three health workers were found absent from the D-Type Health Post at Sulem Sarai during the surprise inspection of chief medical officer Dr Shantimal Singhavi, on Monday.

The CMO has ordered to stop the salary of the staff found absent. Dr Singhavi also inspected the dispensary at the High Court and D Type Health Post Kareli. The doctors and other staff were present at both the places.

The patients had to face a lot of inconvenience due to 12-hour long power cut at the Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, on Monday.

The transformer supplying power to the SRN Hospital and the quarters situated on the hospital campus went phut disrupting power supply to the residential colony in the hospital.
