The 85 year old man and his 78 year old wife were staying alone when some persons entered the house late on Thursday night, murdered them and decamped with a seven sovereign gold chain and a gold ring worn by her, police said.

The man was attacked and received fatal head injuries while his wife was strangulated to death by the gang, they said.
